Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Talking with actor Dean Cain, the forty-three-year-old star of shows like "Lois & Clark," "Ripley's Believe It or Not," and countless other movies revealed that he really is Superman. "The last seven weeks, I've shot four films and a documentary. I'm literally flying from set to set to set. Then heading back home to see my son and coach his football game and then back out to work," he said.

He may have lost the tights but Cain has all the qualities of at least a Superdad, and he plays one on TV as well like in his new movie "The Three Gifts" airing Saturday, December 19th on the Hallmark Channel. In "The Three Gifts," Cain plays Jack Green, a guy wary of fatherhood who temporarily takes in three trouble-making orphan boys. It's a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie, so we already know the ending is sure to be satisfyingly sweet.
But Cain says his role in "The Three Gifts" hit closer to home because of his own adoptive father, director Christopher Cain, and his own experiences as a father to his own nine-year-old son. "I look at how lucky I was to have my dad come into my life, but it's even more about being a father to me," he says. "My bond with my son is so strong and myself having a strong father figure is such a huge part of it. I was just want to make sure he has that guidance and that support from his father."
"The Three Gifts" is also Cain's second Christmas movie this year, following his role in the family television movie "The Dog Who Saved Christmas." Cain says he's happy to be doing films about his favorite holiday, of which he already has about four on his resume. "What I love about doing Christmas movies is that they'll run forever! They re-air them and re-air them every year so it's great for me," he says laughing.
"My favorite Christmas movie of all time bar-none is 'It's A Wonderful Life.' If I can make a movie that gives anyone a feeling like that, that's what I enjoy doing and I think 'The Three Gifts' does that," he says.
But while Cain is still referred to as Superman and it's been over twelve years since "Lois & Clark" ended (even parodying it in a hilarious cameo earlier this year on "Entourage") and having earned over 70 credits after, Cain says he has no problem with a new nickname. "I've been called Superman, the Ripley's guy," he says. "I'd be fine with being called the Christmas guy."
"The Three Gifts" premieres on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, December 19th at 8pm ET/7pm Central.
The Three Gifts' - Dean Cain & The Hallmark Channel make a touching Christmas Film (Review & Video)
'The Three Gifts' is a Christmas movie that premiered last night on the Hallmark Channel starring Dean Cain and Jean Louisa Kelly as a married couple who run and own a toy shop. Their Aunt is in charge of an orphanage and asks them to take in 3 boys for Christmas as the orphanage is being renovated.
These three boys are known as 'holy terrors' and get up to a lot of mischief. However, the adults don't know that they are fighting so much because they are all hoping to be the one child that gets adopted by the parents at the end of Christmas.
'The Three Gifts' movie was extremely touching and beautiful. The young children played by Spencir Bridges, Dylan Sprayberry and Alex Zubarev really warmed my heart and I see huge careers ahead for all 3 kids. They displayed the emotion that each child was feeling perfectly- I truly believed that they were orphans and were craving a real family.
The movie centers around how these three boys are the best of friends and will stick together through thick and thin because they are the only constant most of them have had for years, yet they all still want to have parents. This movie makes you seriously think about fostering and adopting because there are so many children who need a family in this country. I found this site that offers more info on fostering and adoption if you are interested in reading up more about it: http://www.adoptuskids.org/
I loved 'The Three Gifts' and am happy to see that the Hallmark Channel is creating and releasing new films that don't run the line of lifetime movies.
